The Scars We Bear
We all have scars we bear, on the outside, or within us.
Scars definition:
- a mark left by a healed wound, sore, or burn.
- a lasting aftereffect of trouble, especially a lasting psychological injury resulting from suffering or trauma.
- any blemish remaining as a trace of or resulting from injury or use.
We all have them somewhere on our bodies. Some are easy to see and some aren’t. There are always stories behind them. Reasons that they are there and how we got them. Some have a funny story that goes with them, but some also can be very hard to talk about.

When I think of my scars, I don’t think of the pain they caused or the hurt that comes along with them. They let me know how far I have come. and how I lived to tell a story.

We all have scars in some form. Whether they are external from accidents or surgeries. Adventures and happy times.
Or internal, emotional scars that are hard to see and we tend to keep on the inside. Our emotional scars bring up many different feelings. Although these scars are easier to hide, they affect us on a deeper level. And seem to need more healing.

All of us have early influences that stick with us today. We all develop emotional scars at one time in our life or another. All of our fears and self-doubt stem from these individual emotional scars.
“If not for my scars, I never would have known the true love of a Savior.”
Maybe you’re still struggling with events of the past and things that have happened to you. And you didn’t ask for them and don’t understand why a loving God would allow them.
But know this: your scars do not define you.
It’s hard to believe, but our emotional scars can sometimes be a good thing. They can lead to positive change.
1. Scars show the healing power of the Lord
When we give the scars we bear to the Lord, He begins to work within our hearts.
He eases our pain and gives us the power to forgive the one who hurt us.
2. Scars keep us from repeating mistakes
Scars are meant to remind us of the difficult times.
This way we will not repeat mistakes and be careful not to injure others.
3. Scars draw us nearer to Christ
When we remember our scars, we also remember the comfort we have in Christ.
He always meets us in our darkest hour.
4. Scars allow us to help others
Sharing your story, your scars, can be a blessing to those around you.
Share what the Lord has done in your life.

We all, unfortunately, will be scared at some point in our life. Allow God to use it positively. When you feel ready and the Holy Spirit moves you, share your scars. They could be an immense blessing to others.
